yes u can
but incase notice arises,u have to be ready with proofs....

income from form 16 is to be taken as it is shows total income however 26AS shows income after subtracting the Exempted income if the same is shown while filling the TDS return from your employer...

Yes, you can do claim. your form 16 and tds certificate should be matched then you filled return
Yes... I agreed to Mr Akhil.,

@ Nalini.,

Yes... You can avail the deduction if it's not shown Your form 16... After You get Mismatch notice from ITD then You reply the notice with Proof...

if in case the notice arises , can we provide proofs through IT website or physically??

IMHO

1) The salary + Perquisites + Allowance + Exemptions  u/s 10 should match amount paid/credited  in  form 26AS. (under sec192) .  Exemptions u/s 10 should be shown @ 27 d

2) Amt under TDS1 18 - sno 1 ( income chargeable under head salary) should be equal or greater than given in form 16 and shall be equal to  s.no 1  (vi).

3) TDS amount in TDS1 18  should match 26AS.

You can correct me if iam wrong.  I am also filing my wife's ITR-1
