Question about AO code when applying for a PAN card

Hi. I want to apply for a new PAN card (for the first time). I currently have no income since I just graduated from college, my job starts in August.

 

I live in Sector 82, Noida, U.P. and wish to know my AO code that I have to fill out on the form online. I clicked on the 'know your AO code' link on the online form, and saw that there are 5 or 6 options for Noida.

 

The site also said that in case of no income, we may select the 'default' option. Does that mean it does not matter which option I choose when applying for the first time without income? So I can select any option?

The page does not say which option is the default one, by the way.

 

So how do I go about this? I searched for the local income tax office but it has no phone number listed online. Can someone help me in this regard?

Hi, i'm not sure if you got hte answre to your question, but i'm also facing the same issue.

 

Can you please help with the AO code for Sector 82 Noida to me aswell?

Dear All , please go to https://www.incometaxindia.gov.in then you click PAN ( know your pan ) option the disply is below. KNOW YOUR PAN First Name : Middle Name : Surname *: Date of Birth / Incorporation* : after that you are geting AO code

Sir, I think you are answering wrong question. What you have mentioned works if you already have a PAN and want to know who uour AO is.

However, it is very difficult to understand which AO to select if you don't have a PAN and are applying for one.

As I understand it you select the AO based on what type of income you have (salary etc) and your surname -- in large area like Mumbai that is how it is assigned, but in smaller area like Noida it might be different. Unfortunately the PAN application website gives very little guidance, you cannot know if you can choose anyone which is convenient for you or if you have to select a particular one, or even the addresses of the offices to determine which would be closest to you.

I just checked, there is only 1 AO shown for Noida (DLC/CC/202/4), so you can use that one. Or call ASK at 0124-2438000
