Do we have to cancel E invoice if the vehicle no is wrong, can't we just change the vehicle no in e way bill.

yes. the e-invoice to be cancelled if the vehicle number is wrong, and a new e-way bill with the corret vehicle number needs to be generated.

According to GST rules, if there is an error in the vehicle number on an e-way bill, it is not possible to directly change the vehicle number. Instead, the e-way bill needs to be cancelled and a new one generated with the correct vehicle number. This is because the e-way bill is linked to the e-invoice , and any changes to the e-way bill would require updating the e-invoice as well.
