I didn't register earlier under VAT .in gst registration they ask for date of commencement of business which date I can write

Do you have memorandum?
you can put the date which is mentioned in any documents or certificates which u obtained from any local or state authority like shop act licence, food licence etc.
I think memorandum has all the related information.
