Professional Tax

I worked in company from Apr-10 to 15-Jan-11, in MP. my employer deduct Professional Tax Rs. 208 Per month for 9 month Rs. 1872 and Rs. 628 deduct in Jan-11 Total Rs. 2500/-.

and after 15-Jan-11, I am working in a Company in Maharashtra and my current Employer deducting Rs. 200 per month.

Its right or not? i dont know Professional Tax slab for Maharashtra.

Pl guide me.

Yes at max a person have to pay 2500 rs per year as  in maharashtra.I have business and i pay same.

as u left the job in jan, the previous employer did not wanted to take the hassle to proove the broken period of your employment for profession tax purpose only, however if u can produce of salary slips to current employer that u have already paid 2500 towards profession tax, then he may not deduct, but for this he will have to make a lot of troublesome documents to submit before PT department, so better ignore this small amount subject.
