U/s 89(1) relief available in this case.

rent also will taxable on receipt or due whichever is earlier except arrears rent received

It means it will be taxable under Income from house property and relief u/s 89(1) will also be available to the employee.. Am I right?

Swati, i dont think relief U/s 89(1) is available for such case.

Its available only for Govt employees' arrears of salary and arrears of pension, as far as I know.

frnd section 89 is not applicable only for salary, it's also applicable on incremental rent recd. with retrospectively effect as same manner as for salary incremental

yes it is taxable under the head "income from house property" u/s 25B relief us 89(1) is not available in this case. relief u/s 89(1) is avaivable in case of if u received arrear of salary.
