Friends m a self study student ... plz guide me in preparation of  Costing as i dont know from which chapter i have to start my preparations.

I completed all the AMA topics from P.C. Tulsian Text book except Linier Programming. And now i want to start Costing topics.

Plz share which topics are easy to learn first from costing as i can get confidence then gradually i vl move to other tough topics.

Thank you all....

I suggest you start with Standard Costing. It builds on what we studied in IPCC and carries a weightage of up to 8 marks and is usually scoring.

Do small topics such as JIT, Activity Based Costing, Shut-Down Divestment, TQM, Target Costing, Balanced Score Card thoroughly as they may be sometimes confusing but are relatively easy to score than Marginal Costing.

I find Marginal Costing a little difficult but if you are at ease with it, you may start with it first. It carries a lot of weightage.

My strategy is to focus on the small topics rather than too much focus on Marginal Costing.

The guru mantra for costing.."Practice ..parctice...and practice as much as you can...practice to perfection.."...many students don't take std costing srsly...but i wud suggest master std costing...all the best..!!

Fully agree with @ Vikash
