Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies how teachers should report Provident Fund (PF) withdrawal and gratuity received upon retirement in their ITR1 Income Tax Return form. Both are considered exempted income under sections 10(10) and 10(11) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, assuming the PF is recognised by the CG. The guidance focuses on correctly declaring these amounts within the exempted income sections of the ITR1.

it should be reported under head of Salary income and mention these are received at the time of retirement.

Thank you Mr. Jayasurya for your reply.

But my query is where & how to show PF withdrawal & Gratuity in Exempted Income, which section exactly.

Gratuity shall be exempted u/s 10(10) and PF wuthdrawl shall be exempt u/s 10(11) of income tax act1961. assuming this Provident fund is recognised by CG.

Thank you,
