Quick Summary
If you're a sole proprietor and need a PAN for your business, you cannot apply for a separate business PAN. Proprietorships aren't distinct legal entities. Therefore, your personal PAN serves as the PAN for your business. You should apply under the individual category if you don't already have a PAN.

There is no separate PAN for sole proprietor
Proprietorship's are not a separate legal entity. Hence, the PAN of the proprietor is the PAN of a proprietorship firm.
