Not able to generate itr xml from java utility in apple macbook

Hello All,

This issue reagrding macbook, i downloaded java utility from Income tax website.after fill all details in utlity I am not able to save form. when i click on save button in java utlity from my apple macbook, This button is not working. All button are working only save and Submit button are not working. Kindly let me share solution if any one have.

Yes, same problem is faced by many tax payers with Java utility for ITR3_Version2, even with windows having google chrome or explorer as browser.

Hi Asha, Please save the draft in any folder. Then open the same draft in the java utility & then press the save button. The XML generates this way. I was struggling with the same issue till i found this solution

The java utility on MAC seems to only work with Java version 8 update 51. Later Java versions (9, 10) seem to be incompatible.

This is how I got it working: Downloaded Java 8 Update 51 from the link below and installed it. The installed java binaries are stored in /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java. Created a temporay link called javaold using the following command:

sudo ln -s /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java javaold

And edited the ITR.sh file to use javaold instead of java. This way I kept my updated version of java working as well.

Crux of the matter is that you have to downgrade to an older version of java for the ITR utility to work. Hope this helps.
