articleship is very good process of learning. but its not properly established. most CAs are treating articles like a employee amd not a student. they are concerned about their own benefit only and not wheather student is learning things or not. some articles are doing same work again and again in 3 years. they are not given next level work.

 

articleship system is very good but it should be properly implemented by ICAI. SO I THINK There should be SYLLABUS for articleship in 3 years like:

 

  • 1st year:  Vouching and Auditing
  •  
  • 2nd year:  bank audits, finalising balance sheets. filling all types of returns in
  •  
  • 3rd year:  dealing with SCRUITNY ASSEMENTS, capital gain, stock audit, special audits, statuory audits

(articles should not be given clerical work like maintenance of files, typing, calculation checking, standing in lines to submit tax returns, visiting clients or any other place for collecting any documents. however these work can be given once during begining for knowledge of purpose not again and agin)

since in a year ....d work is not only realed with a particular type.......it includes....audit.....,taxation...., bank audit......

I agree to what you say in the first part.

However, i feel that only 1 year of compulsory audit, accounts and tax training should be there. Rest of the period, the student should be given the option to join the Industry.

This is because there are many CAs who dont want a career in accounting, auditing and taxation, but their knowledge of these areas can help them get a better job. It doesn't happen that way because CAs surely lack professionalism in terms of communication skills, interpersonal communcation, listening, management etc at the same time are ignorant to an extent about the other avenues open to them.

Take the example of Investment Banking, CAs are recruited in very less numbers out there, even in campus, you may find that only 5-10 students are taken by an Investment Bank, that too in back office jobs, where even bcom are recruited.

In front office, only IIMs, CFAs are there, and the staff there is so less that you can count them on fingers...but I feel that even CAs can get a front office job if they do certain things during training period, like it could be Industrial Training or if one is lucky he could get into the Financial Advisory Services department of a big 4.

very right Kaya!!! the institute must issue syllabus with proper detail like you have given in your reply. because article students dont know which type of works are there. CAs know but they dont have time or they are not concerned. so syllabus will help articles to demand correct work from employer.

nothing new has been learned by me in last 1 year.

 

hello munish!!!!    You should talk to your employer seriously. dont afraid of talking about it.    its your future.         you will never get chance of learning again after becoming CA. make him a simple request he will surely listen you. 

 I knw that it is very serious prob. 

i have talked with my CA and he agree that time and after that same old work is given to me which i m doing from past 1 year.
