sir,
I spent about a lac for hernia operation of my mother who is not a sr citizen.can I claim deduction under 80 D.

No deduction is allowed under 80DDB for Hernia

80D is for medical insurance premium paid..not about the amount of expenditure incurred.if you have paid medical insurance premium you can claim it

Under 80D(2)(d) -it's allowed to a very senior citizen 80 above. subject to limit and conditions.
