Medical Expenditure- 80D

Dear Colleagues,

One of my Sr citizen retired client has no Medical Insurance policy, but gets her medical expenses
reimbursed to the extent of 80K yearly from her office.

She has paid around 20K (In the form of Cr/Dr Card payments) from her pocket for medical expenses which
is above the reimbursable limit, does that additional amount paid qualifies u/s 80D ?

Appreciates a quick response.

Thanks,

Quick Summary
This discussion explores whether a retired senior citizen client, who has no medical insurance but receives an £80,000 annual reimbursement from their office for medical expenses, can claim an additional £20,000 paid out-of-pocket under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act. The consensus suggests that senior citizens unable to obtain insurance can claim medical expenditure deductions up to £50,000, provided certain conditions are met, making the £20,000 potentially eligible if proper documentation (like credit/debit card bills) is available.

Under Section 80D, You can take deduction up to Rs.5000 on preventive health checkup, If you have incurred such expenses .

Sec 80D IS APPLICABLE FOR ALL INDIVIDUAL ,HUF.
THE ADMISSABILITY OF EXPENDITURE IS UPTO RS.25000 .

As your father has no medical Insurance & he is a senior citizen , He will get deduction of medical expenditure up to Rs.50000.

RS.50000 IS FOR SUPER SENIOR CITIZEN.

CHECK AND REVERT BACK.

RS.5000 IS FOR PREVENTIVE CHK UP IS KNOWN TO ME.

RS.25000 for self and family.

50000 limit is for citizens having age of 60 years & above..

In case of senior citizens who are unable to get insurance they can claim deduction of medical expenditure up-to 50,000..Provided the person is resident . so 20,000 can be claimed if other conditions are fulfilled in my opinion

This is not a forum for discussing insurance .

He can claim 50000 deduction as per income tax act of 80D section
make sure the credit debit card payment Bills are with them
