lost last yr filed return

Hi,

You can file the current year return with the department.  It is nowhere concern that you need to have a copy of the returns of earlier years for individuals.  People are keeping a copy only for their personal purpose.

For getting the copy of last year return you may contact the relevant ITO.  Any ITO will give the copy of the return if you pay a sum to him or else move with a Chartered Accountant or Certified TRP for obtaining the copy of the previous year return.

Yes you can file online without last years acknowledgement

There is no requirement of copy of last year return while filling current year return.

Yes ofcourse you can file current year income tax return online and manually as you wish. There is no need of last filed income tax return and you can get copy of last filed income tax return from ITO.

last year's copy of ITR is required in case of Revising that return, not in case of filing current year's return.

Last date for filing tax return of A.Y. 09-10 for Persons having Tax Audit (u/s 44 AB) and companies and partners of Firms having Tax Audit is 30th September 2009. and for persons other than specified above is 31st July 2009.
