Recent land acquisitions under RFTLAAR act, are tax exempted.

compensation on rural agriculture land is exempt 

however compensation received on acquisition of urban land acquisition is taxable

There is difference between Compulsory acquisition and Voluntary Acquisition of Land 

please refer difference to your acquisition type
