Thanks. Excel 2016, 64Bit as suggested on eFiling site

Windows 10, right ?

Regarding getting into issues in future, after completing every schedule and its validation, save the excel main utility file (not the ones in two sub directories, no need) as a backup , so that in case of trouble, you can discard the trouble making file and start afresh with the latest back up.

So you may have xxxx_1, xxxx_2, .....xxxx_6.

Once the filing is completed, you can discard the multiple backup files.

I had started following this multiple back up method after Infosys took over.

Same upload error for Excel 2016, 2021 & 2024.

@ Csk26kit

I am yet to restart on the exercise.

Likely to do tomorrow for at least calculation of Self Assessment tax.

And if it does work, could try to create json.

Regarding problem you are facing with uploading the json, I suspect, problem is with the EFiling system and not the json file. The efiing system may be having difficulty in reading json created using 64 bit Excel. Someone mentioned about the word length in json more suited to 32 bit and e-filing system could be getting confused with 64 bit json ( word length supposed to be 52bit in 64bit json).

Keep the json ready but do not file for another week. By that time Infosys may tackle the issue.

This Utility is buggy af.  The "Calculate Tax" button on Schedule "Part B - TI TTI" sometimes calculates erroneous tax. It will give rebate u/s 87A but will keep the 4% Cess intact!! And that Cess (which otherwise should revert to 0 after 87A is applied) gets included in the final Tax. You have to repeat the Calculation 2-3 times for it to correctly show 0.

As for the 64/32-bit thing in addition to the Excel version numbers, if all this really becomes a concern for the end user, than it is shameful on Infy's part. I am guessing that at 10MB file size the coding behind the Excel Utility has gotten unwieldy and messy for Excel to handle. Infy should have coded a standalone utility.

Anyway, I think I should just wait for them to release Online ITR-2 filing (if at all they are releasing it this time). If you find a solution, please do post.

Btw, congrats on your thread reaching #2 on the Popular Discusison chart shown on the right. :P

Thx.

@ Cs26kit

Thanks for your latest input about 4% cess calculation going wrong in the utility. Means all would need to manually recheck this every time. And such a simple function going wrong in the utility is terrible coding, I would say!!

Plz read my suspicion about why json file uploading coild be failing.

You json could be perfect but some bug might have appeared in the E Filing system which checks each json against corruption before accepting.

Do not discard the created jsons, wait for a few days and then retry uploading.

I'm trying to prepare my ITR in ITR-2, and everything seems fine. However, when I save the JSON file, it shows an error message saying 'compile error in hidden module'."

@ Varun Makhija

What you are facing is one more bug in the utility.

Hope Infy staff taking notes of all our feedbacks for removal of the bugs.

Good Morning to all members of the Forum.

I am back now with more information about my efforts to use the ITR-2 AY25-26 Version 1.0

Today, restarted the exercise with Win 7 Sp1, Excel 2016, 32 Bit. On Lenovo Thinkpad X230.

The Utility file is 32 Bit obviously, otherwise my Excel 2016 32 Bit would not be able to open the utility.

My requirements are -

General, CG, IT, TDS, OS, AL, TI_TTI, Verification, and CYLA_BFLA only.

I made all except the above No No in Home Sheet First.

All data manually entered. Prefilling data had created issues and I had to discard the complete file.

After filling data in Each sheet, did validation till it said that the sheet is OK, before moving onto next sheet.

Finally completed tax calculations and as known from Cs26kit input, manually reverified the tax calculations. Calculations done by the Utility checked out OK.

Next commenced json creation. Everything progressed normally. Finally the page opened for Save JSON.

Tried to save JSON. Could not save. Error message appeared:-

Microsoft Visual Basics For Applications -  Compile Error In Hidden Module: GenerateJson. This Error Occurs When code is incompatible with the version, platform, or Architecture of this application. Click Help for information on how to correct this error.

Clicked on Help , and following Pop Up Message came

Microsoft Excel Security Warning. Certificate Error. The application encountered an internal error loading the SSL libraries.

Googled for the last pop up about SSL Libraries. M S Forum came, too many complaints by many about encountering this SSL Error.

I wrote in the begining, my machine is Thinkpad X230, there is Trusted Platform chip in the motherboard. So clueless at this moment.

Only achhieved calculation of Self Assessment Tax, which came to a hefty figure. Have to concentrate on arranging funds for paying this SAT.

And leaving any further investigations on ITR-2 Excel Utility Ver 1.0 for now.

Hoping Infosys staff looking at this GuineaPig's  inputs and will take necessary steps to help file our return on time.

ITR -2 Excel utility. Only HP, CG and OS. All sheets got validated. But when calculating tax, the utility is asking to enter salary details. Salary is made "N" in the HOME sheet and it is not showing in the utility. Unable to proceed.

Hello

I facing an issue with the 'Schedule S' sheet'. After filling salary value, when i click to validate, its asking me to fill decription of value of perquisites  and  Profit in lieu os salary - which i do not have/applicable either of them. so if i leave as it is , it does not allow me to validate and calcuate tax.

I have filed ITR2 for my 2 clients on 12.7.25 for AY 2025-26. But in both the filing, working with Prefiiied data was causing problem for calculation of Self Assessment Tax. Then I opened fresh excel file of ITR2 and filled it manually. First disbale those pages which are not relevant for your PAN and click "apply" on the top right corner of the Home page. Then fill all data manually in the respective relevant pages. Then fill TDS pages correctly. Then validate each page. After validation, click "Claculate Tax" you will get the tax liablity. Then preceed to create Json file and upload ITR2

Thanks

In the Schedule of Salary, you need to fill in Perquisites and Other by selecting an option from the dropdown menu. Even if the amount is zero, the sheet will still be valid

@ Debashish Ghosh

Thanks for posting your experience.

plz let us know what is the Windows version, what is the MS Office version.

And the laptop make /model .

To fix Schedule of Salary in ITR 2, the following method worked for me.

Fill employer name , address, state, PIN code etc. ( with anything you like ).

Then select anything from the pull down menu for Nature of salary ,perquisite etc. Amount - 0

Then delete all what you filled in Salary schedule.

Now try "Validate" . I got the message "ok"  :))

Try you luck.
