In all over INDIA - how many people will be the IT filers - no matter wetherthey pay 1 Re tax or 100 crore tax.
Or in other words what is the general percentage of people in INDIA - out of 120 crore are IT assesses????

In 2004-05, the compliance rose to 78.2 per cent on a tax-payer base of 29.21 million. In 2005-06, this rose to 82.1 per cent on a base of 29.63 million. In 2006-07, this has risen to a new high of 85.3 per cent on a base of 29.79 million. OR just 3 % of ou r population is under Tax net. Strange. WE are discussing BPL / APL & daily 25 Rs or 35 Rs in come etc. The poverty is in Alhulwalia"s head.
