Is PAN number is necessary
one lady sold her agriculture land during the FY 2012-13 and purchased another agriculture land in some another district from the sale proceeds. She is not filing income tax return as she has no PAN number. but in the month of march 2020 ITO of district in which lady sold land send notice regarding furnish pan number, income tax returns and detail of above said proceeds. what can I do regarding this.

Apply for PAN to increase credibility and then furnish details about the sale purchase and transactions viz bank summary etc
