Income Tax Refund Cheque

One of my client had filled his return of Income and the amount refunded got his cheque from the Income Tax department but the client not deposited the amount into his bank account and the date of the cheque also more than six months.Kindly suggest what to do for issuing a fresh cheque of refund from the department and what procedure to be followed.

I suggest u keep a copy of the letter and cheque with u cause i've seen cases where new cheques are not issued at the early due to some reasons. U can follow up with the same documents in that case.

simple write a letter to income tax department also enclose old cheque , keep photostate of cheque with u for proff

You may request to get the same cheque revalidated and then and there you can deposit into the Bank a/c. It is very simple and not write a letter and no need to get a fresh cheque.

Please write a letter stating your problem addressed to TheAssessing Officer in the jurisdiction in which the return has been filed along with a photocopy of the cheque.
