I never wanted to do CA

Ya thats true ,I never wanted to do CA.....I know friends u r going to critisize me and say"Priyam then why r u here" ...I have read a few articles wich says that a person who has joined CA course bcos of parents or bcos of friends can never become a successful CA......So i thought about writing this article .

Why I never wanted to do CA

I scored 85% in 10th ...was good at maths scored 94 ,the problem was i was good at science...even won first prize in science project ,but i didnt take science in 10+2 bcos i hated chemistry more than anything else.I hated cramming..Actually i cant cram anything. So i took commerce by choice ...i didnt know anthing about it...so it was going to be a new experience for me.For commerce i had to change my school ,So 11th and 12th was like hell for me........I developed certain kind of dislike for Accounts in these 2 years maybe bcos of the way it was presented to me, but i loved Business studies and economics .I hated accounts thats why i was scared to take up CA.

Why i took up CA

1) for my parents- I know my parents wud be very happy....actually my dad will be the happiest person in this world the day i become CA.Actually im waiting for that day when i wil get to see the hapiness in his eyes.I got a taste of it this year when i cleared PCC first group.

2) I know i can do it- I took up CA bcos i was sure i wud be able to complete it .I got addmission in Delhi University BCom(H) ....but i left it,by my own choice,It was a risk i hav taken...If i dont bcom a CA,i know  i wont be anything. But i know i can.....

3)I dont hate accounts anymore- I did self study for CPT and for PCC ....i studied from the basics,i read the study material completely but ya i must say for CPT  study material is sufficient...I just managed to pass in CPT , bcos i only studied Accounts and mercantile law completely and attempted all the questions of this part...and left everything else blank(bcos negative marking na)....it was like gambling,(but i wud never say anyone to do this).I joined CA without ne dreams ....but ya now I truly believe that I can surely make a mark.It has obviously taken time to understand and like wat i was doing.....there were times i used to cry ,my parents were scared too, they told me take up nething that I wanted to do and leave CA(my parents were supportive always ,mayb they were scared of me commiting suicide, but i think i was a fool ,i just had a fear of accounts .....but i must say ,i had to workhard for it(but i think everyone has to workhard),Its good to find myself back again and Im happy.

Actually there is a lot I can write about , but just want to say my friends have faith in urself and ur abilities cos if u dont no one will.

Human mind has no boundaries...., how can anyone predict from before whether a person is going to be successful or not...every person has the capability to make a mark but its just that how soon he realizes his true worth....makes all the difference.

Just to add :

After qualifying CA also; most of the members are unable to find right career for  themselves.  CA curriculum gives not less than 50 different careers.

The reason is -

They are unable to select their area of practice or job which they like. They accept whatever come before them. Neither they take mastery in one-two subjects nor they try to have proper practical exposure of the areas which they like.

If something has missed during the training which they like; another two-three years must be invested to remain with either some practising CA firms or with some Companies which are engaged in their areas of  interest.

But; despite knowing the best for them; very few take proper decisions.

.

The profession of CA is one the most challenging in all the professional careers. I have seen some members who switched their practice to Surat after having an establishment of more than 20 years at Kolkatta ! In 2003, one 60 plus Bengali member told in a national conference that for a bright career I have shifted myself from Kolkatta to Delhi !  He is master of Auditing. He explained all the Auditing Standards in one hour !

For qualifying CA; proper atmosphere is necessary which is generally missing in most of the cases. Thanks to the tuition classes that at least CA students can form their groups.

But it is true that the students who were so crazy to do CPT, generally feel disappointed in mid of the training. If  training is bad; they have fear about their career. If training is of average; they don't feel satisfied and those who have very good training; find difficulties to have sufficient leaves to appear in the examinations.

Same position is there of qualifying CAs. Once they take wrong decision; it is very difficult to come on right track.

And the most wonderful question about CA students is -

They can't tell what they will do after qualifying CA - i.e. Job or Practice !

Most of the students will tell : we will decide later !

Dear Priyam,

Ya i know its a bit difficult to know the subjects when you change a stream.

Even my father dream was to that I should becoma a CA.And every community no one had ever gone for a higher studies or professional courses. So when i joined CA course no one was there to even guide me.I was a bit scared when i couldn't clear my 1st attempt in PCE-II,at that point of time i felt that i should quit CA and join an MBA.But as you know that the fees for MBA studies are quite high and our family could not afford such a high fees. And if you do an MBA from IIM than only is has a value. So that time my family supported me had said to completed my CA studies.I made my mind just workhard and finally reached at my destination, and have taken such a prestigeous CA degree.

Today i really feel great about my parents and their decision to show me such a great path of success.

So my dear friend never think of quiting a CA.Just do your work you will find your success.

Regards,

CA Rachit K Patel

Best of luck....dont worry...u can do it......................!!

Hi Priyam

You have beautifully captured the thoughts of several students on their choice of CA as a course / profession. Your write up serves as an important tool and an inspiration to many a reader.

Your observations are relevant for any course / subject. I would like to add that never ever take up any course / act simply because your parents want it. Discuss with them as to what really interests you, and seek their support in pursuing your dreams. They are there to guide, and not dictate in matters such as these. These are my personal views, and I know I would draw more flak for my seemingly "emotion-less" argument.

I sincerely wish all the very best things to happen for your career.

Thank you so much Surendra sir for your invaluable comments.

Rightly said Priyam... One should have faith in their own capabilities. Anyone can do something if not everything. The need is to discover inner capabilities & work on those aspects.

No one can stop any person from reaching great heights . Everything required to become successful is already present in oneself..

" The Greatest Discovery Of Ones Lifetime Is To Discover Himself"--                                                                                                      ---Anonymous.

Examples from real life-- Sachin Tendulkar , Padma Shri CA. T.N. Manoharan, Amitabh Bacchan, CA. M.P. Vijaykumar....

Next could be one amongst us. Just believe in yourself & do the job in an excellent manner . In a way in which no one can do better than you... One should(including me) should aim for excellence.. One should also be down to earth at all times.

ur spirit...as to U CAN..will ease all your paths...

All the best..n very nice post..

Thnx..

Be positive friend, best of luck
