Hra exemption
Pls tell me how can I get exemption from House Rent Allowance if I have owned and rented flat in same City ???

you can not claim exmption

But I heard that if the both houses are in the same city but in a different direction, then we can get claim.
So I want to just confirm is it correct ??
According to Section 10(13A), an assessee can claim House Rent Allowance as exemption only of following conditions are fulfilled :
a.) The assessse has actually incurred rent expense on accomoidation occupied by him.
b.) The assessee is not the owner of the accomodation occupied.
So in your case you are not a tenant as one house is owned & other let out .
