I have passed 2nd group in may,2012. I followed practice mannual for direct tax and indirect tax and i got 62 in indirect tax and 50 in direct tax. I think for scoring 60 plus in Indirect tax first u preapre for compulsory question of 25 marks in Q. no 1. and revise these with the help of practice mannual. Sometimes ditto questions are from PM specially the sum of Custom , SSI and VAT. Then go through the REcent case laws(30 marks are from recent case in IDT.) , then amendments , notification , circulars and RTP.
In direct tax first go through pgbp, capital gain and recent case laws(abt 30 marks or more) , then go through recent amendment, notification circular and wealth tax-(another 15 -20marks) practice mannual is must for all these chapters. Then go for other chapter.
AMA= i folowed only study mat and Pm.
ISCA= I follwed these chapters only- 5,6,7,8,9,10(full chapters) and some selected questions . from ch3 and ch1.
For isca you have to read daily for atleast 1 to 1.5 hrs for atleast 1 month otherwise you cant write in eaxm. In NOV ,11 i failed due to ISCA.
