How to pay the cpc demand u/s 220(2)?

Online status of my Outstanding Demand states that I have to pay an amount of 816/- to CPC u/s 220(2) for the year 2006-07.

Can I pay online for such a backdated Asst.Year? Since the notification says, rectification rights are with CPC, how do I proceed to pay the arrears? Could you please advise me on how to go about it?

Dear krupa Firstly contact your AO regarding the demand raised. whether it is due to non matching tds or due to other reason. If the demand is correct at their end, pay it by making tax on regular assessment. accordingly put the details of challan under the pending actions under demand is correct.

Hayder, when rectification rights are with CPC, you file rectification request online instead of contacting AO.

The Outstanding Demand from CPC for interest arrears u/s 220(2) for the year 2006-07 is correct and genuine.

Though the rectification rights are with CPC, can I pay through Challan No. ITNS 280, mentioning the type of payment as "Tax on Regular Assessment (400)"? Will the "Details of Payment" be "Interest", "Penalty" or "Others"? Is there a way I can pay directly to CPC or pay online for a very old Assessment year like 2006-07? Could you please enlighten me on these.
