Income Tax Compliance Notice for Donation

ITR 1609 views 7 replies

I received a compliance notice saying that: our records indicate that you have claimed deductions of xxx in your AY2022-23 for donations to charitable-relief funds. However, based on the PAN you provided, the organization you donated may not be eligible for the deductions you claimed.

Actually I donated to PM Cares which is 100% deductible and the PAN number is absolutely correct. I don't see any reason for this notice. Can you advice what should I do?

The notice is a routine compliance alert due to data mismatch. Donations to PM CARES Fund are 100% deductible under Section 80G, and your claim is valid. You should respond online by selecting “Disagree”, upload the PM CARES receipt, and provide a short explanation. In most cases, the matter gets closed without any adverse action.

If new tax regim opted....donation deductions not allowed as deduction

If old regim itr filled....then go to AIS and give appropriate feedback. Income is exempt

Keep receipts ready....in case furthur notices arrive

AIS has option ...only to give feedback

At this stage u cannot upload any receipts/ describe issue...etc

But Sir where to reply as the email notification says you cannot reply to this address. Kindly Advise.

U can respond on ITR portal

Open incometax portal

Go to pending actions

Go to compliance portal

Open AIS

In AIS....u go to DONATIONS

There u will see E mark in red in donations

There slide and u will find FEEDBACK optio

If u do not know properly how to give feedback in AIS....it is HIGHLY adviced to get it done with practising C.A....to avoide furthur inconvenience

I received the same notice for AY2022-23 , AY  23-24, and AY 24-25. This was old tax regime as 80G deductions are only allowed in the old tax regime.

I don't see any place under AIS to provided donation feedback. It has sections such as TDS / TCS, SFT Information (Dividend, CG, etc), Payment of Taxes, Demand and Refund. But no feedback for donation.

I have collected all the valid receipts.
