Hello friends

I was reading  the comments of students on nov 2012 exams & got to  know that this time FR & SFM paper were easy.I also gave 1st group this time & felt that FR,SFM & Audit paper were easy but law paper was v  tough.

The reason for FR,SFM & Audit paper being easy is :-

ques were directly asked from past attempts RTP's ,compilers,practice manuals etc.

Barring theory subjects,one thing which i never understand is if the paper of FR,SFM & Cost comes from RTP's,compilers & practice manulas,then we can attempt the paper well & it becomes a guarantee to success BUT WHAT when the paper does not have any questions from RTP's ,compilers & practice mauals??In that case,paper becomes v v  tough for all the CA students & we say ye kaisa paper dala institiute ne is baar.

One question which always comes to my mind is -WHERE IS THE UNDERSTANDING FACTOR HIDDEN?ARE WE UNDERSTANDING THE BASIC CONCEPTS IN FR,SFM & COST OR ARE WE DEPENDENT ON RTP'S,COMPILERS & PRACTICE MANUALS??

  • If we have solved a question earlier,it means we can solve it in paper easily.
  • But if we have not solved a particular ques eg: of amalgamation or NBFC's etc 7 if it comes in paper,we lose confidence at once & are hardly able to sove that question in those 3 hours.
  • If the ques asre familiar to us,we gain confidence but if the questions are unfamiliar to us,we lose confidence,fear creeps in & we start feeling "ab kya hoga,ye ques kahan se aa gaya,ye to kabhi kiya hi nahi"-means now i wont be able to do it.

It happens with me & i am sure it happens with so many other students too.

So ,my ques to eveybody is ''Is solving each & every type of question from:-

1.Reference books

2.RTP'S

3.Compilers

4.Practice manuals

can provide us a guarantee to success or is there some other way out too?

Becoz when a rankholder says that I soved 500 questions of costing from different books,i solved diff types of ques ,i solved them again & again then i dont know what inference do you all get but i only conclude that you should solve A-Z questions from all the books,that too not only once but 3-4 times.But what if we have to give 8 exams after 6 months,do we have so much time to solve all the books?

If not,then what is the guarantee to success in C.A exams?

Dear friend, nothing can guarantee success. Success in CA exams depends on various things. One of them and the most important is a good preparation. If you prepare will, most probably, you will be successful. So regarding preparation, I can say that

(i) in the case of practical subjects viz., FR, SFM & AMA, you have to practice as many problems as possible for as many times as possible;

(ii) in the case of theoritical subjects viz., Audit, Law & ISCA, you have to cover the syllabus comprehensively, as the paper is very unpredictable; your answers should not be written in a lay man's language; you dhould maintain professionalism in your answers; you need to incorporate as many technical terms as possible; in other words, I can say, "don't just read; read meticulously";

(iii) in the case tax subject viz., DT & IDT, again cover the entire syllabus, give special importance to latest ammendments and practice solving past examination questions (may be of past 10 years); and don't forget to read "select cases" publication of ICAI.

This should result in success!

Good luck!
