Hi Manisha,
FI would be using your accounting and taxation knowledge and CO would be taking your costing knowledge. You chose what are you good at. As far as my experience goes, I see very less number of CO consultants who have actual core CO knowledge. Most of the CAs/MBAs call themselves FICO consultants without even touching the CO part. When I went for core CO training, then I realised how much of CO is there who nobody touches. CO is required cumpolsarily for manufacturing organisations and so they need better CO consultants. Remuneration-wise, both are equivalant (almost. Though because of lesser availability CO consultnats are more sought after).
Having said this, finding an entry level job as a CO consultant is more difficult than FI. This is because any organisation expects some core domain experience in CO before taking you as a consultant. However, you can easily grab an entry level job as FI consultant. But if you join as FI consultant, you can later on move in to CO profile as well. This is because they always have some part of CO module implemented when FI is being implemented.
Thanks & Regards
