FAQs- Switchover to the New Syllabus

ATTENTION STUDENTS !!

We have been receiving a number of queries on the introduction of New Syllabus and the corresponding exemptions available on the basis of their performance in the Old Syllabus. We have generalized the said queries and tabulated the clarifications to such queries in the form of an FAQ. After going through the same, the students are requested to forward any left-out queries of general nature to enable us to update the information so that the students are well familiarized with the various provisions relating to the switchover to the new syllabus.

FAQ ON SWITCHOVER TO THE NEW SYLLABUS

FOUNDATION PROGRAMME
Question 1		What is the difference between Foundation Course and Foundation Programme?
Ans.		The nomenclature of “Foundation Course” under the new syllabus has been changed to “Foundation Programme”.
Question 2		When the first Foundation Programme Examination under the new syllabus will be held?
Ans.		The first Foundation Programme Examination under the new syllabus will be held in December, 2008.
Question 3		When the last Foundation Examination under the old syllabus will be held?
Ans.		The last Foundation Examination under the old syllabus will be held in June, 2009.
Question 4		I have registered for the Foundation Course before 1^st November, 2007. Can I opt to be examined under the New Syllabus (Foundation Programme) and if yes when?
Ans.		Yes. The students admitted to the Foundation Course before 1^st November, 2007, if so desire, can opt to be examined under the new syllabus (Foundation Programme) from December, 2008 session onwards. They can apply for switchover to the new syllabus after declaration of results of June, 2008 Foundation Examinations i.e. after 25^th August, 2008 while seeking enrollment to Examinations during December, 2008 and June, 2009 sessions. In any case, all students of Foundation Course would automatically be transferred to new syllabus effective from 26^th August, 2009 and examined under the new syllabus (Foundation Programme) from December, 2009 session.
Question 5		Which are the corresponding paper-wise exemptions available to Foundation students of old syllabus?
Ans.		The corresponding paper-wise exemptions are : -

EXECUTIVE PROGRAMME
Question 6	What is the difference between Intermediate Course and Executive Programme?
Ans.	The nomenclature of “Intermediate Course” under the new syllabus has been changed to “Executive Programme”.
Question 7	When the first Executive Programme Examination under the new syllabus will be held?
Ans.	The first Executive Programme Examination under the new syllabus will be held in December, 2008.
Question 8	When the last Intermediate Examination under the old syllabus will be held?
Ans.	The last Intermediate Examination under the old syllabus will be held in December, 2009.
Question 9	I have registered for the Intermediate Course before 1^st February, 2008. Can I opt to be examined under the New Syllabus (Executive Programme) and if yes when?
Ans.	Yes. The students admitted to the Intermediate Course before 1^st February, 2008, if so desire, can opt to be examined under the new syllabus (Executive Programme) from December, 2008 session onwards. They can apply for switchover to the new syllabus after declaration of results of June, 2008 Intermediate Examinations i.e. after 25^th August, 2008 while seeking enrollment to Examination during December, 2008 or June, 2008 or December, 2009 sessions. In any case, all students of Intermediate Course would automatically be transferred to new syllabus (Executive Programme) on 26^th February, 2010 and examined under the new syllabus from June, 2010 session.

Question 10		Which are the corresponding paper-wise exemptions available to the Intermediate Students under the old syllabus?
Ans.		The corresponding paper-wise exemptions are : -

Question 11		I have passed all the papers under Group-I and/ or Group-II under the Old Syllabus. Will I be exempted from the papers under Module I and/ or Module-II under new syllabus?
Ans.		Yes. The Students who have passed the Group-I under old syllabus will be exempted from all papers under Module-I of the new syllabus. Similarly, the students who have passed Group-II under the old syllabus will be exempted from all the papers under Module-II of the new syllabus.
Question 12		I have secured 60%, 54%, 52% and 23% Marks respectively in the papers covered under Group-I of Intermediate Course (Old Syllabus)? Whether I am eligible to get exemption on the basis of securing 60 marks in Paper-1 at the subsequent examination?
Ans.		No. For securing exemption on the basis of securing 60% Marks, the student should have appeared in all papers and scored atleast 25 Marks in each subject.
Question 12		I have secured 61%, 63%, 64% Marks respectively in three papers covered under Group-I of Intermediate Course (Old Syllabus) and I remained absent in the fourth paper? Whether I am eligible to get exemption on the basis of securing 60 marks in Paper-1, Paper-2 and Paper-3 at the subsequent examination?
Ans.		No. For securing exemption on the basis of securing 60% Marks, the student should have appeared in all papers.
PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMME
Question 13		What is the difference between Final Course and Professional Programme?
Ans.		The nomenclature of “Final Course” under the new syllabus has been changed to “Professional Programme”.
Question 14		When the first Professional Programme Examination under the new syllabus will be held?
Ans.		The first Professional Programme Examination under the new syllabus will be held in June, 2009.
Question 15		When the last Final Examination under the old syllabus will be held?
Ans.		The last Final Examination under the old syllabus will be held in December, 2010.
Question 16		I have registered for the Final Course before 1^st February, 2008. Can I opt to be examined under the New Syllabus (Professional Programme) and if yes when?
Ans.		Yes. The students admitted to the Final Course before 1^st February, 2008, if so desired, can opt to be examined under the new syllabus (Professional Programme) from June, 2009 session onwards. They can apply for switchover to the new syllabus after declaration of results of December, 2008 Final Examinations i.e. after 25^th February, 2009 while seeking enrollment to Examinations during June, 2009 or December, 2009 or June, 2010 or December, 2010 sessions. In any case, all students of Final Course would automatically be transferred on 26^th February, 2011 to the new syllabus (Professional Programme) and examined under the new syllabus from June, 2011 session.
Question 17		Which are the corresponding paper-wise exemptions available to the Final Students under the old syllabus?
Ans.		The corresponding paper-wise exemptions are : -

Question 18	I have passed all the papers under Group-I, Group-II and/ or Group-III under the Old Syllabus. Will I be exempted from the papers under Module I, Module-II and/ or Module-III under new syllabus?
Ans.	Yes. The Students who have passed the Group-I under old syllabus will be exempted from all papers under Module-I of the new syllabus. Similarly, the students who have passed Group-II and Group-III under the old syllabus will be exempted from all the papers under Module-II and Module-III respectively of the new syllabus.
MISCELLANEOUS
Question 19	What is the procedure for switchover to the new syllabus and can I revert to the old syllabus once opted for the new syllabus?
Ans.	The student has to submit an application in a plain paper for switchover to the new syllabus. However, it should be noted that once a student has switched over to the new syllabus, he/she would not be allowed to revert to the old syllabus under any circumstances.
Question 21	Will the study materials under the new syllabus be issued free of cost on switchover?
Ans.	No. The Students will have to purchase the Study Materials after remitting the requisite price. It is clarified that the Students may purchase the Study Materials even before formally switching over to the New Syllabus.
Question 22	After switching over to the New Syllabus, I have notionally cleared all the subjects/ modules covered under a particular stage (Foundation / Executive/ Professional Programme Stage) of CS Course. Am I eligible for registration to the next stage of CS Course and issue of Pass Certificates of the stage deemed to have been passed by me due to such switchover bye-passing the normal Examination Enrollment Process?
Ans.	No. A student can only be declared passed in a particular examination session viz. June or December session. For officially declaring a student as passed in a particular session of CS Examination (June/ December), students are essentially required to apply for the Examinations through the prescribed Examination Application Form alongwith the prescribed fee by the scheduled dates and formally seek exemptions for the subjects they deemed to have passed on such switchover. They will accordingly be enrolled to such examinations and Admit Cards will be generated by showing exemptions in the respective subjects. Alongwith the declaration of results of the respective sessions of Examinations, the results of such students will also be announced. Hence students are encouraged to apply for switchover to the New Syllabus through Examination Application Form only to avoid duplication of work and other administrative complications.
