FAQ's on use of UID

Q. What is the UID Facility available on the web site of ICAI?

A. The UID (Unique Identification Number) can be generated by registering using the

following link: https://www.icai.org/uid/?mode=login

The 30 Characters UID Numbers so generated by the ICAI Practicing Members can be

indicated on the Certifications issued.

Q. What is the Link to cross check whether the certificate number so indicated is

valid or Not?

A. The Link to cross check the certificate numbers so generated is

https://www.icai.org/searchudin.html

Q. Whether using of this system is mandatory for the Members of ICAI for each

certifications done?

A. No. Using this facility is optional right now.

Q. What happens when anyone cliks to the link For first time sign up, click here ?

A. Form Appears and as the information is provided then automatically the User Name

and Password is mailed to the E Mail ID and Mobile Numbers registered with ICAI.

Q. What Happens if the information is not accepted or the password is not sent?

A. The Credentials does not matches with the database as maintained by the regional

offices. Probably the data base maintained does not has the correct E Mail ID or

Mobile number or regional offices may have entered the same wrongly. For example

entering multiple e mail ID’s in one field, Providing space before the e mail ID’s etc.

After the correction has been effected please try the next day by “Send my login

Credentials/ Reset Password”. The system would immediately send the same again.

Q. Shall I change the password after I login?

A. The passwords generated at the end of the ICAI is in encrypted format so proper

safety is ensured. However in your interest you may immediately change the

password after the first login is made (from the system dashboard) and please keep

the changed password with yourself.

Q. What does Add Certificate option does?

A. The Add certificate option provides an algorithm using the same one can generate the

30 digit UID number so the same can be indicated on the certifications done by the

ICAI Members. Using this number the user of Certificate can cross check whether the

certificate is authentic or not.

Q. Is generation of UID number is mandatory or if UID number is generated offline

can the same be entered using back date?

A. It is strongly recommended that the numbers to be generated online as far as possible.

But in case the same is generated without using the system then the same may be

entered in the system within 30 days of the issuance. While generating the said

number offline the same has to be in lines of the what is in online mode.

Q. Can Certificate number once issued can be revoked?

A. The Certificate number once generated can be withdrawn with narration and hence if

any user searches for this certificate number appropriate narration indicated by the

ICAI Member will be displayed for reference.

Q. Whether one can see the Various certificates generated?

A. Yes one can see and search the various certificates number generated using the search

option with the dashboard.

Q. How to reach the Central IT Department in case of any issue?

A. You may reach to the Central ID Department at (0120) 3045912 or by writing to

edp @ icai.org. For all Data related issues related to Enrolment Dates, DOB, E Mail

ID’s, Phone number corrections please get in touch with respective regional offices.
