please note that you need to complete 2.5 years as on 1st day of the month in which exams are to be held.  Provisional registration doesn't mean you get to give exams without being eligible.

first of all check your registration  status using your principal's membership numberat https://220.225.242.179/locm_article.asp?MRH_MRN=XXXXXX  replaces XXXXXX with your principal's membership number

if you find your details under this link, then first of all stop worrying.

secondly preferably visit local ICAI branch or if you got any friends in chennai, ask him/.her to approach articles section in person on your behalf for the letter.
