YESTERDAY(31/03/2008) UP TO 12 PM WEBSITE WAS NOT OPENING/ VERY SLOW DUE TO CONGESTION MAKING THE E FILING IMPOSSIBLE FOR US. IN CASE OF CORPORATE ASSESSEES NO PENAL ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN ON FILING THE ITRs ON 1ST APRIL, WHAT IS UR OPINION

Even though penalty as per Act we can say that due to technical reasons we could not file if possible we can take the copy of error shown by print screen option so that we have proof
I MUST SAY ITS A SHAME FOR INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT.
In case of corporate assesse e-filing is mandatory but in other assessee its optional so you can file physically also.
The site can not withstand the stress.The Tax department should Test it for the maximum load.Mere advice that the assessees should file the return well in time to avoid last minute rush will not do.I have also experienced that the site was too slow and was not responding for very long.Frustrating!!
it's true that the webpage was down and no single return was submitted by us online, and same is to be bring to the notice of the income tax department, so that whatever return filed on1st april is to be treated as submitted on 31st march 08.
