irrespective of the kind of supply ,for example Zomato and swiggy are asking for gst number from street vendors ?

yes a person making supply of goods through e commerce is compulsorily required to get registered and that too in regular..
however for specified services where e commerce is liable to pay tax, that supplier is not required to get registered..

yes ... they cannot opt for composition scheme

E-commerce can only take regular gst registration.
