Dear John,

in the Invoice itself you are showing the discount, meaning you intend to reduce the GST liability in the bill itself.

Then the question of Input tax credi will not arise.

to make it very clear, assume the gross invoice value Rs. 100000 and discount is Rs. 5000.

Only on the net tax invoice Rs. 95000 you will pay GST.

Instead of reducing tax in the bill itself, you will not go and opt for Input tax credit on Discount.
