Is digital signatures required by proprietor, for first time registration of proprietorship firms at GST portal?

yes. it is made mandatory even they say it is not required for proprietor and partnership.

i think aadhar e signature is implemented along with dsc in some states. fill and save the form and see last page showing submit button and see whether e signature there

yes dsc is compulsary for company and LLP. It is optional for proprietor and partnership firm.
