i have recieved a phone call that itr of my assessee is defective and they also said intimation is send through email already.
but i have checked my email there is no mail and there is no record found u/s 139(9) on the income tax portal. now what to do?

Don't rely over phone call. Let e mail be received first.

Any reply can be given only after the e-filing account displays the defect under e-proceeding.

where to check notice of defective return on portal?
in efile response to 139(9)?

The defect gets uploaded on the portal only after 3 working days ....

So no need to worry, till any mail received.

On the portal go to my accounts then use view returns then go to screen which shows uploaded returns. At the end column you Will find status of your return
today i recieved notice u/s 143(1) without any demand but the status of return on portal is still "itr recieved"?
What happens if not responded to the notice within 30 days?

In case, no response is received by CPC within 30 days, the tax return will be processed after making necessary adjustments mentioned in the 143(1)(a).
