why give deduction in income on slab rate??

why give deduction on income at dlab rate of sec 80c_80u?
deduction under Section 80C to 80U is given on Gross Total income.....After giving deduction you will get Net Taxable income on which u have to pay the taxes as per applicable slab rates
Deductions are allowed for benefit of individual and economy as a whole,
such deduction encourages savings in economy leads to money generation in the hands of Government and government undertakings
Indirectly government and assessee both get benefited bu deduction allowed
