Can we claim exemption in 2 subjects from different groups ?

One of my friend acquired exemption in accounts in 1st grp of PCC in Nov 2010. Now in May 2011 he get exemption in Income Tax. In May 2011 attempt he claimed his exemption in accounts. Please tell me can he claim exemption in both subjects in Nov 2011 exams.

Please refer to any notification/announcement/rules from institute if you can.

I can't refer to any particular notification etc., but as far as I'm told by a senior, your friend can claim exemption in both subjects in the next term. Pls consult with your local ICAI chapter or wait for the reply of other CCI members.

There's no such announcement available, but its confirmed that as per the ICAI rules, any exemption in any exam can be carried forward for maximum 3 attempts succeeding the first one..............

So ur friend can claim the exemptions in Nov' 2011 too................

I dnt aware abt any ntfctn/circlr reg. dis bt i hv seen d practicl case f dis issue,,,n in dat case d prsn as eligibl to clai exemptn in bth subjct so dre is ur case n u frnd can also go 4 availin exemptn in bth sujects....

WHAT IF, someone gets exemption in 2 out of 4 papers in a Group of Final and 2 out of 4 papers in other Group,and still fail both d Groups..In such case will d exemption will hav to b opted for max. 1 paper of each Group respectively.So total only 2 papers can b exempted right????

i think ek exemption 3 attempt tak valid hota hai so he should get two subject exempted
