Only individuals who are self employed person or who do not receive HRA, can claim deduction under this section.

so you can claim this deduction

Thanks Aakarsh Jain for your response.

Regarding my second query, how much deduction can I claim under 80GG ?

The maximum deduction allowed under Section 80GG is Rs 60,000 per annum which means Rs 5000 per month. You cannot avail of the benefit of this section if house property is of your wife or minor child. To claim the benefit under this section needs to fill form 10 BA.

Thanks Aakarsh Jain for your prompt reply. My annual rent amount is 70K , so I can  claim deductions of  Rs 60K , right ?

YES YOU MAY CLAIM 60K U/S  80GG , PROVIDED THAT YOU ARE NOT RECEIVING HRA FROM YOUR EMPLOYER (if you are a salaried person)

A PERSON IS UNEMPLOYED - AND HE HAS NO INCOME CAN FILE NIL RETURNS VOLUNTARILY

TO CLAIM DEDUCTION THERE SHOULD BE INCOME FROM WHICH IT WILL BE DEDUCTED , AND IF HE HAS NO INCOME HOW HE IS PAYING RENT ?

Hi Saiish,

There is income from interest earned from bank savings/FD. I am paying rent from the interest amount earned.

In my case how much 80GG deductions can I claim ? Thanks
