I think its because many people are unable to find jobs and many students are turning more towards business rather than doing such hard course.

1. PASSING PERCENTAGE (I recently checked Ipcc Both groups old syllabus student passing percentage of last 2 attempts is below 2% they all are repeated Student at least they attempted exams 3-4 time's. and same case in CA final for more details you can find out videos on YouTube even for McQ right answer checker can reward you 00)

2. ICAI CAMPUS PLACEMENT ( Icai campus job success rate is something around 25-30% i.e 70% Qualified chartered accountant didn't get any job offer letter in campus placement)

3.DURATION OF COURSE ( Practically On an average duration of completion of this course is something around 6-7 year's after 12th and on average 3- 4 year's after graduation)

4.LOW STIPEND INTERNSHIP ( 3 year's internship where you will get low stipend as compare to other internship)

Entry of courses like CPA, CIMA,CMA, CFA, FRM, ACCA etc into the Indian market. Big 4s and other MNCs treat these courses more or less equivalent to CA in the respective fields. Moreover, these courses are relatively easy as compared to CA.
