Ca after software engineering

CA 2019 views 3 replies

Dear All,

I have a question here...

I'm a Software Engineer and an MBA working as a Business Analyst with a firm. My work needs me to dive into Business Functions all the time; as we all know...Accounts is the language of Business. So, just to enhance my knowledge, I wish to do CA while working in my present capacity. Please note that I don't want to seek employment as a CA as such, but want to use the knowledge acquired in my firm. So...I have a few questions:

A. Is there any legality binding me from pursuing CA?

B. If I'm enrolled in CA...will I have to do the Foundation Course [I'm a post-graduate]

C. Do I need to attend classes 'officially' or I can study on my own/ take coaching?

D. Do I need to do 3 years of articleship; even if my firm allows me to work and train at the same time under our company's CA?

I'd really be grateful to everyone who answers my questions.

Best Regards,

Rajbir Singh

Indian CA is considered to be one of the toughest CA courses in the world. No matter what your experience you need to compulsorily go though the 3 years articleship and sacrifice pay and promotions for that period. If its only for knowledge then I would suggest you go for ACCA instead. It is one of the biggest global accounting body which is recognized around the world. The advantage is you do not need to quit your job to do articleship in this course. A 3 year relevant work experience signed off by a CA will do. Google it to know more.

Dear Mr. Rajbir

Find the answers to your queries.

A. Is there any legality binding me from pursuing CA?

Ans: There's no legal binding.

B. If I'm enrolled in CA...will I have to do the Foundation Course [I'm a post-graduate]

Ans: Now the Foundation course is named CPT which is a compulsory course, but the institute (ICAI) is trying to bring a new alternative which would enable graduates to skip CPT.

C. Do I need to attend classes 'officially' or I can study on my own/ take coaching?

Ans: CA course is a kind of distant learning course, there is no classroom training.

D. Do I need to do 3 years of articleship; even if my firm allows me to work and train at the same time under our company's CA?

Ans: The 3 yrs Articleship training is compulsory.

My Suggestions: If you really want to acquire knowledge and don't want to practice / use the degree then better go for some other alternative courses. As CA is a time consuming course and it will take around 4 yrs to complete it if you do not fail in any of the levels.

CA is 1000000 tms tougher thn ur engineering............like ur engineering ,it is not easy..................... go for icfai's mfa programme...........
