Autentication of final accounts

Sir,

I am working as accountant in pubic sector undertaking, I have prepared the final accounts of the company as on 31-03-14. The accounts has to be authenticated by the board along with one of the manager of the company before submiting to the auditor. On behalf of the board Chairman & MD are signing the accounts.

My question is, as an accountant of the company shall I sign the accounts even though one of the asst. Manager-finance is working in that company, & what is my responsibility if I sign the accounts.

It all  depends upon the structure of your  organisation and your job profile.  As a general  rule, some senior person (say one level below the  Board) should put his counter-signature or initials to  authenticate the financials.
