APPLIED PAN CARD INSTEAD OF CORRECTION

Dear Sir/Madam,

My cousin was mistakenly applied for pan card instead of correcting old one through NSDL website. He already having a pan card which also linked to aadhar. Now new card alloted on same aadhar number.

After I tried correcting old one at that time I filled column no. 11 but system not accepting my application. So I asked him to go to AO and he went and explained the situation, but AO demanding 10,000 penalty. please explain what can he do to cancel the pan card without charges.

Thank you in advance

Quick Summary
A user accidentally applied for a new PAN card via NSDL instead of correcting their existing one. The new card has been issued and linked to their Aadhaar, which was already linked to the old PAN. Attempts to correct the old PAN failed, and the Assessing Officer (AO) is demanding a £10,000 penalty to cancel the new card. The user is seeking advice on how to cancel the duplicate PAN card without incurring charges.

If you want to correct and keep the old one apply for changes in pan and in column 11 enter the PAN which you want to surrender and take a print out and send to nsdl office or submit through ekyc or design using aadhaar otp
I have did the same, but end of the process it showing that "this aadhar already linked with another pan kindly contact your AO"
