Can anyone please confirm whether CST or VAT is applicable for the coming NOVEMBER 2008, PE-II EXAM?
Please confirm is asap as i didnot prepare for VAT as yet for the coming nov 2008 exam and unsure about the applicabiliby of CST for this attempt of PE-II.

CST hasnt been phased out yet. It will b gradually phased out to 0%, i.e it'll b abolished. Moreover, the CST Act will remain, for the definitions and all, jst the 'tax' will b phased out. so Both for Nov 08 & may 09, CST will b present in PE2 syllabus. jst confirm the current rate (may be 2%; i Might b Wrong) for ur Nov09 attempt. all the best.
and regarding Inclusion of VAT Act in syllabus, be assured it wont b done without prior notice. and with 2 months left, it doesnt stand a chance.
it wud mean a change in syllabus. for that ICAI wud hv given all the students to collect Study Mat for the same. so dont worry abt it at all.
there is no chenge in pe2 syllabus..
you may read CST even though it is not phased out yet....
VAT applies only for PCC students..
