ITR 2282 views 3 replies

Throughout financial year, receive gift from employer at various occassion.

  • Diwali gift ( Amazon Voucher Gift Card)
  • Performance related gift ( Amazon Voucher Gift Card)

Combining all are not exceeding 10000 to 12000 for year and sometime very less.

Is this texable ? if yes, in ITR which section it needs to mention.

Does value of pre-requisite has this information in it ?

To clarify, you're asking about the taxability of gifts received from your employer during the financial year.

Taxability of Gifts As per the Income Tax Act, 1961, gifts received from an employer are taxable under the head "Salaries" if the aggregate value of such gifts exceeds ₹5,000 in a financial year.

Value of Gifts Since the combined value of the gifts you received (Amazon Voucher Gift Cards) is between ₹10,000 to ₹12,000, which exceeds the ₹5,000 threshold, these gifts are taxable. Reporting in ITR

You'll need to report the aggregate value of these gifts in your ITR under: - _Section 17(2)_: "Income from Salaries" - _Schedule S_: "Income from Salaries" (specifically, under "Other Income" or "Perquisites") Value of Perquisite The value of the perquisite (gifts) will be the aggregate value of the gifts received during the financial year.

Important Considerations 1. _Maintain documentation_: Keep records of the gifts received, including the value and date of receipt.

 2. _Consult a tax professional_: Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with tax regulations. By reporting the gifts in your ITR, you'll ensure compliance with tax regulations.
