We have a manufacturing unit registered under Central Excise. We have rented the premises. The owner is charging Service Tax on such rent. Are we eligible to avail the input credit on such rent and use the same towards payment of Excise Duty?

Yes you are eligible for input credit.
Ya you can utilse the service tax input for the payment of Excise duty...
As long as you manufacture only goods liable to duty of excise you can avail and utlise. otherwsie Rule 6(3) may apply and you may have tp avail proprotinate credit.
