Adjustment of late filing fees and late processing fees in tds

We have received a TDS Demand for past 10 years. There are penalties for late filing and late deduction of TDS. Can We adjsut it against other unconsumed challans as shown on the TDS site. Will the department issue again notice for the aforesaid period once the demand is adjusted and for the unconsumed challans.? Please reply urgently.

Hi, You can adjust the unconsumed challan balance amount to the defaults amount.

Register digital signature of authorized person and search unconsumed challan or challan with some balance and use it to pay demand and pay for balance amount, It takes much time

Don't worry Anupa.. Allocating balance amount to defaults is a very easy process.. Follow Challan correction e-tutorial videos on TRACES website.

https://contents.tdscpc.gov.in/en/e-tutorial-deductor.H T M L# follow the link and check "online correction'.

Thank you for your immediate replies but my concern is that if I adjust the unconsumed challans against the defaults, and the department later on issues notice for the unconsumed challans which i have adjusted then I will have to pay for the amount later on. Are there any chances that demand notice can again be issued to us for closed AYs.

As of my knowledge no issues.. I have done same corrections for aprox 10 clients.

If client is having unconsumed challans and late fees demand pending for payment. Is there any chances that tdscpc itself adjust unconsumed challans against late fees demand?
