Yes it is correct

But a deduction of upto Rs 5,000 can be taken if cash payment is made for preventive health check up.

case -1
Suppose you have paid 10000 through cheque for mediclaim insurance and 5000/- in cash for preventive health check up.
in that case you are eligible for INR 15000/- u/s 80D
case -2 Suppose you have paid 10000 through cheque for mediclaim insurance and 5000/- in cash for preventive health check up and 15000/- for your parents (dependent or not) . that you are eligible to deduction of INR 30000/-
case -3 Suppose you have paid 10000 through cheque for mediclaim insurance and 5000/- in cash for preventive health check up and 20000/- for your parents who are senior citizens (dependent or not) . that you are eligible to deduction of INR 35000/-
