Alright I'll start with the questions, mind you I have no idea about cfa, other than what it literally stands for i.e. chartered financial analyst. So my questions will probably be noob-ish, I apologise for that before hand.

Now the questions, I heard in passing that CFA is the course name for CA in USA. Is this true?

If that is true, what is the duration of the course?

If this is indeed a course for practising in US, then, can such course be done from India. Coz In case it's too tough, it'd suck to go to a whole different continent and learn that you're not up to it.

I have more question on this, waiting for answers :)

1. CFA is altogether is differnt field than CA or CPA (the CA of USA).... CA focusses on accounting, audit , tax but CFA focusses on Equity Analysis, Alternative Investments, Portfolio Mgt, Derivatives.



2. the duration of the course is jus 2 yrs provided u clear all levels in the first attempt.



3. Dude, no course in the World is tough and yes it can be done form INDIA as well... Exam centeres are alloted in INDIA almost 3-4 mths earlier than the exam.

There are a total of 3 levels level 1 is held twice a year in jun and dec - fees $1090
level 2 only in dec - $600
level 3 only in dec - $600

u only have to be a simple graduate to register for CFA .. no special % critereia

is there any exemption for CA/CS student???

is there any training also in CFA??

@ chakraverti  There is no exemption in CFA for any course in the world..

there is no training in CFA curriculum but u have to show a collective Work Ex. of 48moths in order to get the charter after passing the 3 levels.
but there is no training criterea top sit in the exams for CFA.

so is the CA 3 year articleship will be included in that 4 year exp. required under CFA.......

i dont think so, because articleship is apart of CA curriculm and the cfa institute has specifically mentioned that internship or training positions would not be counted towards work ex.

but post CA professional audit work ex is counted towards the work ex required by CFA institute..
