The Finance Minister held a meeting on the 16th of November on simplification of GST forms and returns in which Revenue Secretary, Chairman CBIC, GSTN CEO, Member (Tax Policy), CBIC, AS (Revenue), Joint Secretary (Revenue), JS (TRU-1) and EVP- GSTN were present. After the meeting, the finance minister announced that New GST return is available on the portal for trial and consultations will be held all across the country on 7th December to receive feedback on the new system. The due date for GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C has been extended to the 31st of December keeping in mind the complexities that were being faced by the taxpayers. The due date for Annual Return has been extended multiple times due to the issues being faced by the Tax Practitioner and Consultants. Now the government has finally decided to simplify the forms by taking nation-wide feedback on the New Return System to be enacted from April 2020.
