GSTN Launches UPI and Credit/Debit Card Payment Facility for Taxpayers in 28 States

The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has rolled out a new facility allowing taxpayers to process their GST payments using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Credit/Debit Cards. This major digital upgrade aims to make the payment process more flexible and accessible for businesses across the country.

Initial Coverage and Applicable Cards

The new online payment facility has been made immediately available across 28 States and Union Territories.

This new payment gateway is extensive, supporting a wide range of card networks. Taxpayers can use any UPI application and all major Credit/Debit Cards powered by Rupay, MasterCard, Visa, and Diners.

Future Outlook

GSTN has confirmed that the expansion of the service is already planned, with the "Rest of India and Banks to be covered soon," assuring a complete nationwide rollout in the near future.

This move is expected to significantly reduce dependence on traditional payment methods, offering taxpayers a faster, more convenient, and secure way to fulfil their tax obligations. The integration of highly popular platforms like UPI is a game-changer for the digital ecosystem of tax compliance.
