The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued Notification No. 12/2025 - Central Tax, dated August 20, 2025, granting relief to GST taxpayers in Maharashtra.
As per the notification, the due date for furnishing GSTR-3B for July 2025 has been extended till August 27, 2025. This extension applies specifically to registered persons whose principal place of business is located in Mumbai (City), Mumbai (Suburban), Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts.

The decision, taken under the powers of Section 39(6) of the CGST Act, 2017, follows the recommendations of the GST Council. It comes as a relief to businesses in these regions, providing them with additional time to comply with their monthly return obligations.
The extension ensures that taxpayers facing operational or compliance challenges get the required breathing space without facing late fees or penalty implications. Businesses in the notified districts are advised to utilize this additional time to file their GSTR-3B accurately and avoid last-minute technical issues on the GST portal.
This move highlights the government's continued efforts to support taxpayers and streamline compliance under India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework.
